This privacy policy describes how the Shotuno browser extension (“Shotuno”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you install and use it.
Summary
- Shotuno does not require an account.
- Screenshots, pins, gallery images, and editor preferences are stored locally on your device via Chrome extension storage.
- Shotuno does not sell your data.
- Shotuno does not send crash reports, analytics, or telemetry off your device.
What Shotuno does
Shotuno lets you capture screenshots (visible tab, selected area, or full page), annotate them in an on-page editor, save pins and downloads in a side panel library, and optionally copy, download, or send an image to a destination you choose (for example Gemini).
Data we process
Stored on your device
| Data | Purpose | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Screenshots / annotated images | Editing, gallery, downloads | Chrome storage.local / downloads folder you choose |
| Pins (cropped regions + thumbnails) | Reuse across tabs | Chrome storage.local |
| Editor preferences (colors, tools, watermark prefs) | Remember your settings | Chrome storage.local |
| UI prefs (gallery/side panel) | Remember layout choices | Chrome storage.local |
You can remove this data by clearing the extension’s storage, removing pins/gallery items in the UI, or uninstalling Shotuno.
Not collected by default
Shotuno does not collect:
- Name, email, or account credentials (no sign-in)
- Payment card data inside the extension (optional tips go to third-party pages you open)
- Browsing history sold to advertisers
- Screenshot contents uploaded to a Shotuno backend for the free product
- Crash reports, error telemetry, or analytics
Destinations you choose
If you copy an image, download a file, drag a pin onto a page, or send an image to Gemini (or another destination you select), that action is initiated by you. Those services process data under their privacy policies.
Marketing / support website
Links such as “Buy me a coffee” open the Shotuno marketing site or payment providers (for example Gumroad). Their sites have their own privacy policies.
Permissions (why we ask)
Shotuno requests Chrome permissions only to provide capture and annotation:
- Active tab / tabs / scripting / host access — capture the page, inject the in-page editor, and run full-page capture
- Debugger — briefly attach for DevTools-style full-size page screenshots when you choose Full Page (detaches right after; falls back to scroll capture if attach fails)
- Storage / unlimitedStorage — save pins, gallery, and preferences locally
- Downloads — save images to your computer when you download
- Side panel — show the pins & downloads library
Children’s privacy
Shotuno is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We may update this policy when the product changes. The “Last updated” date will change. Material changes that affect data handling will be reflected in the Chrome Web Store privacy practices and, when required, disclosed in-product.
